Gifts

The nursery is still in disarray because the closet system is not yet in so I’m waiting on final pics of that (plus I want to paint the mural).  In the meantime … here are some gifts I wanted to show.  First a package arrived for Alexandra from her Gramma Bozik…

Birth Announcement in cross stitch and a new hat (that matches her blanket!). The cross stitch is on the dresser for now but I'm trying to decide where to hang it so it's proudly displayed!

And for my first Mother’s Day from Ryan…

A silver locket so I can carry a picture of Alex with me always.

Yesterday we had a very busy day, with my allergy shots in the morning, walking the dog since we finally had nice weather to do so, then down to Worcester to pick up our stripped doors!  Finally a stop at my aunt’s quilt shop and then stitch night.  Needless to say we went to bed early last night!

Today we have mother’s group (find out how much Squishy ways – that’s her new nickname), then cleaning the house!

Family Visits

I got the most recent pictures off my camera and thought I would share some pictures from Aimee and Jason’s visit this past weekend:

Fitz thought Jason was a fun new toy/person to play with and snuggled right up. He was very good with all the grabs and quick movements from little Jason even one really hard ear pull :)
Little Jason opening his birthday gifts Friday night from us. He likes anything he can turn into a drum :) Little Jason opening his birthday gifts Friday night from us. He likes anything he can turn into a drum :)
On Saturday Uncle Mark, Aunt Mo and Hannah stopped by for some quick baby snuggle time.
Hannah meets Alex!
Uncle Mark snuggling with Jason.

Some photos of the cousins before little jason had to head home on sunday. Unfortunately Alex wasn't really in the mood :)

Jason however was a complete ham for me while i rocked alex and took pictures of him playing.

Alex was much happier being snuggled :)

My favorite pic of little Jason the monster :) I have no idea how I caught this one but it was a great face!

And now it’s back to the week, counting down the days until the next weekend.  Monday Alex and I drove down to Worcester and dropped off 6 doors to be dipped/stripped (goodbye lead paint!).  That includes the 2 doors for the nursery!  Plus all the tvroom doors (3) and our closet door for our bedroom.  Going to have a lot of doors and windows to paint as soon as the weather is warm enough to keep the windows out for a period of time!

Love me some sleep

So I chose sleep over nursery progress this weekend but that doesn’t mean we didn’t get any progress done.  Ryan had a ton of work to do so he wasn’t able to work on the house but he could hang with little Alex while he worked.

hyacinths in full bloom out front

Friday night I managed to get everything in the nursery primed (trim) except for the windows which i’ll wait until it’s a bit warmer out to do so they can stay out for a bit.  That’s also not dependent on leaving the room empty since the windows can be removed to another room.

So the trim is primed and ready to be lightly sanded for the first coat of paint (today?).

Chillin on friday

Saturday Alex and I went over to Celebrations with my friends to shop! When we got home Aunt Erica (Tia) came for a visit!  We went out to lunch (after miss alex ate first of course), then just chilled at home.

Now it’s sunday and I am hoping to get some painting done once this headache eases up a bit.

I slept for 5 hours straight last night thanks to this chair!!!!

Last 2 weeks

Ryan was trying to surprise my dad with the nursery progress we made over the last 2 weeks so while I continued to blog I had to keep the posts ‘private’. I have just made them public so feel free to scroll down to find the 4 recent nursery progress posts to see how the progress went.

Easter weekend was a blast – all the family was up, the house was clean, the dogs were good, my nephew was A-dor-a-ble!  PLUS Dad and Ryan installed the sub panel in the attic and Sunday Dad worked on electrical while Ryan continued work on the nursery.  I’ll post details and pictures later today.

I’m pretty tired, even after relaxing all last night.  So all my attention is on work this morning, once I’ve figured out where I ended up Friday and made some progress maybe my brain will be ready to do dual duty and allow me to do things like laundry (and there’s plenty) on breaks.  For now – focusing on work!

Missing the rooster?

Nope!  But the rooster is gone – I think Fitz misses it, I haven’t cleaned the kennel yet that we kept him in for the last 2 days and Fitz is very interested in the kennel every time he walks by.

Hopefully the rooster is happy in his new home ‘on some farm’.  We got a note last Thursday that said the Animal Control guy had picked him up in the morning.  I’ve since talked to another neighbor who said that there’s a guy on a nearby road that had a chicken or rooster in his yard (fenced in) and let it loose and claimed it wasn’t his last week.  So I’m pretty sure he was getting complaints about the crowing so let it loose – thanks a LOT!

I’m just glad we’ve been having some decently warm weather so the rooster didn’t suffer.  Of course I could do without all this rain lately.  Luckily Fitz went to daycare yesterday and got tired out so he’s not bugging me for a long walk in the rain today!  He’s just giving me ‘the look’ because he’s not in his comfy bed (he’s in my office with a cheap bed instead) :)

Last Rooster Post (I hope)

Well we thought we were just about done with this rooster, animal control finally came yesterday and dropped off a trap – problem was it was WAY too small for a rooster, it has however caught 2 squirrels already.  So Ryan pulled out Fitz’s unused dog kennel and a blanket, caught it with the help from a neighbor and it spent the night in the kennel.  All ready for him to get picked up today I called animal control… and the guy is out sick :(

So IF he’s in tomorrow he’ll come get it, in the meanwhile one more day of rooster crowing (now on our porch) and I put out water and some corn for the poor guy.

Beyonce's temporary condo

I’m sure our neighbors are loving this as well and Fitz tried to play with him when we came back in this morning, poor thing went crazy being that close to the dog (I have since pushed the kennel back further from the door).  This morning not only did I have Fitz poking me to wake up but I had a rooster crowing – guess what I’m never going to own – a rooster – maybe chickens some day but never a rooster!

Rooster tales

4:30 am – that’s what time Beyonce decided to wake us up this morning – and he didn’t stop crowing, just kept it up.  At one point Ryan scared it off with a broom for a short while (very short lived).  He slept on our porch last night…

Beyonce sleeping (actually ended up facing in toward the window most of the night.

And yes he pooped all over my window sill and that chair.  I can’t wait for Animal control to come and put out a humane trap for him today – i really hope he gets caught before I get woken up again.

Knock knock

I won’t finish the title but any bloggess fans out there know what that is supposed to be… we had a visit from Beyonce the Rooster (again a bloggess reference) and it is not leaving evidently.

Sunday morning (our last day of a long weekend, with big plans to sleep in – add to that I’m sick and barely slept Sat night) – 8am – cockle-doodle-doo!  For 30 minutes straight!  I finally took Fitz outside and there’s a freakin rooster IN OUR YARD.

Beonce makes an appearance in NH

We ‘scared’ it a house down but it kept coming back all day.   It likes our yard/house for some reason, hanging out on each side (including the driveway), front, back, luckily not the porch itself yet.  This morning 8am – the wake up call sounded again until I took Fitz out and we scared him away again.  Fitz really wants to eat the rooster :)

I slept great last night thank goodness, I’m feeling worlds better today (which doesn’t mean much since I felt like an elephant was sitting on my face all day yesterday – my eye balls themselves even hurt – it was horrible :( ).  Today I at least feel like a human with a cold so I’m going to sleep some more and relax today, hopefully by tomorrow doing a 10 hour day on the computer won’t be agony (so far 10 minutes isn’t great but I had to email work).

Oh yea about Beyonce, I called Animal control yesterday (which is actually closed on Sunday so it was just the police) but they said animal control doesn’t do roosters – only dogs, skunks and racoons!  Not helpful at all.  She said we could call fish and game and maybe they would do something so i might do that now – i don’t want it still around by next weekend when i’m trying to sleep in again.

Busy weekend

We got a lot done this weekend! Saturday was a short day because we had a dinner obligation up in Concord but we did manage to go car shopping and I got a new car! I got a 2011 Acura RDX which is a crossover SUV. It’s nice and small so it’s easy to drive and it handles just like the Audi. It’s got some great features (still have my heated seats and sunroof!) but now I also have USB input (for ipods), bluetooth connectivity for my phone, backup camera and more storage space.

My new car!

I do plan to get a remote starter installed before winter, but for now we’re going without that feature (I think it will be cheaper to get it installed elsewhere than through the dealer).

Today we worked on window panels, the dogs got the run of the porch again and unlike Fitz who mostly hides upstairs when we’re working on the house, Buddy likes to follow us around, not at all bothered by the saws running. Just wags his tail every time we talk to him :)

The window panels are really coming along. We started with the window caps on the cupola. We still have the very top piece of those that we need to make, but we got the first 2 cap pieces made and installed all the way around! Then the sill we installed almost all the way around (one small piece left). Finally we worked on the lower boxes and finished those all the way around. Since it’s hard to explain, here are the pics.

The second and third windows now have full panels except for the very top box.

2 pieces of the cap go all the way around the cupola now.

Bottom boxes are done all the way around and the sill is almost done.

The first window is completely done!

And here are the boys, it’s been a long day (hah!) and they are cuddled up in the A/C. Buddy doesn’t even try to cuddle with me on days like this when we’re home all day. If we’re gone all day he likes to come up on the couch and cuddle. He’s been very good being left alone though, I’ve got my camera on them and they mostly sleep with interruptions to bark at strange noises (buddy) :) I’m so happy they get along so well, I love having 2 dogs!

Tough life.

Working

Work has been a bit busy lately because of an impending deadline but after working a bit Sunday and late tonight I am feeling ahead of the game (I was feeling on track but ahead of the game is safer since you never know what will happen the last 2 weeks of testing).  I’m feeling good enough that tomorrow night I’m taking the night off to quilt since Ryan isn’t home anyway.

I’m not sure I’ll make it but my goal is to finish the top to the crib quilt.  Fitz is not liking all this rain, he doesn’t get his long evening walk when it’s raining like this and it puts him in a whiny mood.  Luckily a short walk and some training (he can jump through a hoop now that’s about a foot of the ground so he really has to jump), tires him out enough for bed.  Maybe tomorrow he won’t sleep in so late (he’s my alarm clock and he got up late this morning) :)
