Annual Welcome~ Spring 2014

Our winter has been eventful and interesting but I am so very glad it is finally spring.

We enjoyed the outdoors all through our family and holiday season last fall and so did the wildlife. While everyone was here for Thanksgiving, my husband and I woke one morning to our children’s excited bear tales from the evening before. Alerted by one of their dogs, Aimee, Nicole, PJ and their spouses huddled near the window to watch the huge visitor in the backyard. Cell phones and cameras were all left behind of course! The bears returned a few times, though, on into December. One evening we caught one on the field camera.

Once it turned cold, it stayed cold. Snow piled up and insulated everything. We fed birds and hoped some would get what the squirrels left : ).

During those final weeks of March, when everyone felt betrayed by the groundhog, my newest granddaughter arrived. Madelyn Hope brings more joy into our lives. She is a sweet breath of new life with an incredibly individual personality of her own already.

Madelyn’s arrival meant 4-5 days that Alexandra and Jason were together so that one sister could help another. Just one year apart, at almost 2 and almost 3, they are fabulous play-mates that thrive on their rare togetherness.  (Tune in for these pics in a couple days)

Jason loves his new baby sister, Maddy. He loves being a big brother so far, sweetly hugging and kissing the baby often. If only we didn’t all live in separate New England states… I can’t wait to be together with the grandchildren again : )
